First Friday Opening Reception: Deer Diary by Lauren Grabelle
Friday, May 2, 5–8 PM
Artist Talk at 5:30 PM
Join us for the opening of Deer Diary, a captivating new series by Montana-based artist Lauren Grabelle. Blurring the lines between fine art, documentary, and wildlife photography, Grabelle invites us to step into a world observed through the lens of a trail camera — her chosen portal into the quiet, unseen rhythms of the natural world.
With the deer as both subject and co-creator, Grabelle positions her camera along well-worn game trails and weathered fence lines, allowing the landscape—and the creatures who move through it—to speak for themselves. The resulting images are not only hauntingly beautiful, but steeped in ancient symbolism, evoking the deep connection between humans and animals that stretches back to Paleolithic times.
Don’t miss the artist talk at 5:30 PM, where Lauren will share insights into her process, her inspiration, and the stories behind the work.
This First Friday event is free and open to all. Come meet the artist, explore the work. Enjoy a No-host bar and music by The Dawn Patrol!
